TEHRAN (IQNA) – Yemeni armed forces used missiles and a squadron of 12 Sammad-3 (Invincible-3) drones in an attack on the state-run oil giant Saudi Aramco, the spokesman for forces said.

The UAVs pounded facilities belonging to Aramco and strategic targets inside the kingdom’s western province of Madinah, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said in a press conference in the capital Sana’a on Friday.

He added that the missiles hit the intended target with pinpoint accuracy al-Masirah news website reported.

The missiles used in the attack were of the Quds and Zulfaqar types, he noted.

Saree underlined that the attacks were in retaliation for the continued aggression of the Saudi-led coalition against Yemen, especially a recent strike in al-Jawf province which killed tens of civilians.

He warned the Riyadh regime that more painful blows will await the regime if it continues its crimes against the Yemeni nation.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing back to power the government of former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi and crushing the Ansarullah movement.

The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 100,000 lives over the past nearly five years.
