Huge Blasts Heard in Yemen’s Hudaydah
According to Yemen Vibe website, the clashes occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Ansarullah and forces loyal to the former Yemeni president have frequently accused the other side of violating a ceasefire agreement reached in Sweden in December 2018.
The agreement includes three provisions: a ceasefire along the Hudaydah front and the redeployment of armed forces out of the city and its port; an agreement on prisoner exchange; and a statement of understanding on the southern Yemeni city of Taiz.
Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of Hadi back to power and crushing Ansarullah.
The US-based Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), a nonprofit conflict-research organization, estimates that the war has claimed more than 100,000 lives over the past five years.
The UN says over 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including 10 million suffering from extreme levels of hunger.
