Maysour Shayib, 35, came second in the online Quran competition, named after renowned Egyptian Qari Mohamed Hussein al-Himami, Shorouk news website reported.
Contenders were asked to submit a recorded video of recitation of Surah al-Hujurat of the Quran.
People from different countries sent their recitations of the Surah to the organizers and their recitations were evaluated by a panel of judges made up of top Quran experts.
The top winner of the contest was a Qari from the host country.
Maysour Shayib, who is a physician and university instructor has won many Quran contests at the national level, including Taj-ul-Quran Competition held by Algeria’s state TV.
