TEHRAN (IQNA) – An online program will be held in Khorramabad, western Iranian province of Lorestan, to commemorate Houshang Yari, a prominent Quran activist and reciter who died last week.

The Quranic community of Khorramabad will hold the event on Thursday.

It will be attended by a number of prominent Iranian Qaris, including Jahanbakhsh Faraji and Mehdi Gholamnejad.

Yari died of the coronavirus on November 9 at the age of 52.

He was a veteran Quran activist from the western Iranian city of Kermanshah and a retired school teacher.

He won top prizes in various national and international Quranic events, including the first title in Syria’s international Quran contest in 2005.
