Jordanian Quran Scholar Dies of Coronavirus

TEHRAN (IQNA) –  Mustafa al-Mashni, a Jordanian Quran scholar, died of coronavirus on Friday.

 

He was an expert in the field of Quranic sciences and Tafsir (interpretation), Arabradar website reported.

Al-Mashni taught Quranic sciences in Yarmouk University in Jordan and in a number of other Arab world academic centers.

Jordan’s Association of Scholars in a message offered condolences on the demise of the senior scholar.

Classified a pandemic by the World Health Organization, the new virus, a respiratory disease known as COVID-19, emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in Hubei Province late last year.

It has infected nearly 58 million people and killed over 1,370,000 globally.

Jordan has reported 174,335 COVID-19 infections and 2,116 deaths from the disease so far.
