TEHRAN (IQNA) – Members of al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement took to the streets in different governorates of Iraq in the form of motorcades on Friday to express support and solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and to celebrate the International al-Quds Day.

According to the Communication and Media Affairs Centre of al-‎Nujaba in Iran‎, members and staff of the movement in various parts of Iraq celebrated International al-Quds Day and stressed their commitment to the cause of the liberation of Palestine.

They took to the streets in the governorates of Baghdad, Basrah, Dhi Qar, Nineveh, Salah al-Din, Karbala, Najaf, Maysan, Wasit, and Babil, holding Palestinian flags and pictures of martyred commanders of the Islamic resistance, on motorcycles and vehicles, chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian people and against Israel, the United States and the compromising Arab regimes.

The members of al-Nujaba also condemned the recent crimes of the Zionist occupiers, especially in the Sheikh Jarrah region of al-Quds and expressed their full support for the Palestinian Islamic resistance and any battlefield response against the Israeli strongholds.

Attendees at the grand ceremony stated that they would not allow Baghdad to join the normalization process with Tel Aviv at any cost.

The International Quds Day is a legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, who designated the day in solidarity with Palestinians.

Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, the International Quds Day has been held worldwide on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

This year, the International Quds Day fell on Friday, May 7.
