Iranians’ Daily Quran Recitation at 15 Minutes: Study

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A new study shows that Iranian Muslims dedicate 15 minutes to recite the Quran on a daily basis.

A section of the results of the study was revealed last week at the 118th session of the Council for Development of Quranic Culture, affiliated with the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution.

The study was conducted by phone with participation of 1500 individuals from across the country within one month.

According to the survey, 26% of people aged above 15 said they can recite all pages of Quran easily.

Some 5% of participants said they can understand the meaning of almost all Quranic verses.

The per capita Quran recitation duration is 109 minutes a week, i.e. 15.6 minutes a day, reported the survey, adding that there is no tangible difference between Shia and Sunni communities in this regard.

 Women above 55 years old have highest Quran recitation per day by 34 minutes.

The average Quran memorization for the category of above 15 year olds stand at 0.74 Juz while the figure related to the category of under 20 years is standing at 1.4 Juz.

Almost all people have a copy of the Quran in their homes, adds the survey, noting that 92% of people believe the entire Quran is words of the God Almighty.
