TEHRAN (IQNA) – What has kept Palestine alive is the resistance and steadfastness of the Palestinian nation against the occupation, an Iranian official said.

Ramezan Sharif

Speaking to IQNA on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Ramezan Sharif, head of the Intifada and Quds of the Islamic Propagation Coordination Council, said that it is resistance that has prevented the issue of Palestine from sliding into oblivion.

He said it has been proven today that the United Nations and its related bodies do not have the least effectiveness in the occupied territories because the Zionists give no care to UNSC resolutions.

The Zionists only understand the language of resistance and power, he added.

Sharif said developments in the past few years show that the Palestinian nation has achieved the awareness that they should not hope for support from international bodies and Arab rulers and instead keep the issue of Palestine alive through resistance.

He also stressed the need for Islamic countries, especially the nations, to support the Palestinian nation against the Zionist regime’s occupation and oppression.

In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (resolution 32/40 B).

On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine (resolution 181 (II)), which led to the dispersion and loss of home of the Palestinian people.
