The pilgrims were welcomed at the Medina airport before going to hotels.

They will stay in Medina for six days and five nights to visit the Prophet’s Mosque and the Baqi Cemetery among other sites before leaving for Mecca to perform Hajj.

This year, a total of 39,600 Iranian pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia in 298 batches to perform Hajj.

Riyadh has announced that it will receive foreign pilgrims for Hajj this year after two years of suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Figures show some 5.8 million Iranians are on a waiting list for travelling to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.

They have been waiting for years for their turn.
