Hezbollah Secretary General Sayed Hassan Nasrallah will deliver a speech at one of the ceremonies to be held in the suburbs of Beirut, the movement’s media relations official Muhammad Afif said, Al-Ahed News reported.

He said the celebrations will start on June 20 and run through August 20, adding that they will include various cultural, social and art programs.

They are aimed at raising awareness in Lebanon about the sacrifices made by a generation of Lebanese to achieve freedom, dignity and real sovereignty for the country, he stated.

Afif said that 40 years after its establishment of Hezbollah, the resistance is today stronger than ever.

He stressed the need for honoring the resistance’s martyrs, founding scholars, fighters, and families of martyrs as well as the Lebanese people who are faithful to the resistance.

The official also appreciated all of those who have supported the Hezbollah resistance movement in the world, including Iran and Syria.

Hezbollah was established following the 1982 Israeli invasion and occupation of southern Lebanon. Since then, the popular resistance group has grown into a powerful military force.

The resistance group fought off two Israeli wars against Lebanon in 2000 and 2006, forcing a humiliating retreat upon the Tel Aviv regime’s military in both wars.

The movement has vowed to resolutely defend Lebanon in case of another Israeli war.
