The holy mausoleum will also host a memorial service for the martyrs this evening. It will be organized by the office of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and include a speech to be delivered by prominent cleric Hojat-ol-Islam Ai Reza Panahian.
Bodies of 11 martyrs will next be delivered to Mashhad this afternoon where another funeral and mourning procession has been planned. The martyrs will then be laid to rest in their hometowns on Sunday morning.
Fifteen pilgrims lost their lives and at least 40 others were wounded after an armed terrorist opened indiscriminate fire at Shah Cheragh (AS) holy shrine, a highly revered Shia shrine in Shiraz, Fars Province, on Wednesday.
Shortly after the attack, the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terror group claimed responsibility.
In a message on Thursday, Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The perpetrator or perpetrators of this heinous crime will surely be punished.”
The Leader added, “The dear Iranian nation and the responsible sectors will definitely prevail against the criminal conspiracies of the enemies, God willing.”
