This was announced by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The insurance cost has been lowered from 235 Saudi Riyals to 87 Saudi Riyal, a 63 percent reduction, tweeted the ministry.

This is part the Ministry's effort to encourage and facilitate maximum pilgrimage for believers, it said.

The visa procedures require visitors to obtain Umrah insurance covering emergency treatments, admission, hospitalization, traffic accident injuries, dental emergencies, pregnancy, dialysis cases and medical evacuations. They also cover general cases such as permanent total disability and death due to natural disasters or other causes.

The duration of the coverage is 90 days from the date of entry into the Saudi Arabia and is valid within the country only.
