Governor of Afghanistan’s Balkh Province Reportedly Killed in Blast
TEHRAN (IQNA) – The governor of Afghanistan's northern Balkh province was reportedly killed in a blast on Thursday.
A local television channel reported that the explosion rocked Mazar-i-Sharif city, capital of Balkh province.
The explosion occurred inside the office of the local administration during a meeting.
Provincial police spokesman Mohammad Asif Waziri told Xinhua, “A blast took place next to the office of provincial governor office minutes ago and so far we have no more details.”
In the meantime, the private TV channel Tolo News said security forces had cordoned off the area and blocked public access to the site of the incident.
