He made the remark in an address to the fourth round of interfaith dialogue between Islam and the Assyrian Church of the East (ACOE), which was launched here in the Iranian capital on Saturday.

“We believe that divine religions have much in common and by relying on them, the world problems can be resolved,” he added.

Esmaeili said there have always been those who sought divisions and discord among human societies, stressing that they are the common enemy of all religions.

They don’t want humanity to resolve issues via dialogue but introduce violence to the world, he stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Esmaeili highlighted the good ties among followers of various faiths, including Assyrians, in Iran over the centuries.

The Al-Zahra (SA) hall of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization’s (ICRO) headquarters in Tehran host the interfaith dialogue, whose theme was “Faith and Youths”.

ICRO Chief Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour and Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East Mar Awa III were among other speakers at the interfaith dialogue, which is aimed at promoting and enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of inter-religious dialogue.

Mar Awa III in his speech described dialogue between Islam and Christianity as important for today’s world, saying the enemies are spreading doubts about the existence of God.

He also said that interfaith dialogue sessions in Iran help to develop friendship and boost ties among religions.
