“We should always be reminded that as preachers it is not for us to punish others. As such, it is important to highlight a more moderate understanding and cultivate adab al-Ikhtilaf (ethics of disagreements) in addressing differences of opinion,” he said in a post on his official Facebook on Monday, MalayMail reported.
The official aslo said the root cause of extreme religious beliefs lies in education and upbringing.
The remarks come as back in late January, Anwar revealed a plan to print a million copies of the holy Quran for distribution around the world in response to the Islamophobic acts of a Swedish extremist politician in burning the Holy Quran.
“The most efficient way to counter this crazy and barbaric action is to continue with efforts that have been made. We are determined to print and distribute one million copies of Quran across the globe immediately,” he said then.
