Sudanese Pilgrim Gives Birth at Grand Mosque with Help of Red Crescent

MECCA (IQNA) – A Sudanese pilgrim had a surprise delivery at the Grand Mosque in Makkah on Monday, when she went into labor and gave birth with the assistance of the Saudi Red Crescent ambulance teams.

 

The Red Crescent branch in Mecca said that it received a report at 12:05 a.m. on Monday that a woman was having abdominal pain in the western yard of the Grand Mosque near the Al-Tawhid Hotel, Saudi Gazette reported.

When the medical teams arrived, they found that the woman was already in the final stages of labor, with her water broken and the baby's head out. They quickly helped her complete the delivery according to the protocol for such cases.

The mother and the newborn were then transferred to Ajyad General Hospital, where they were reported to be in good health.

The Red Crescent branch director, Dr. Mustafa Baljoun, praised the efforts of the ambulance teams and urged the public to call 997 in case of any emergency.

He also mentioned the "Asefni" “أسعفني” app and the distress call feature in Tawakkalna app, which can help locate the caller and facilitate the arrival of the ambulance.
