16 Experts in Arbiters Panels of Iran Int’l Quran Contest Preliminary Round

IQNA – Sixteen prominent Quran experts will be serving in the panels of judges of Iran’s 40th International Holy Quran Competition in the preliminary stage.

The organizing committee on Tuesday announced the members of the arbiters’ panels in the men and women sections.

Ali Akbar Hanifi will head the panel in the men section, which also includes Masud Sayyah Gorji, Hassan Mokhtari, Ali Akbar Nazemi, Hassan Hakimbashi, Mehdi Abbasi, Seyed Ahmad Moqimi, Mehdi Daqaqeleh and Mohammad Taqi Mirzajani.

In the women’s section, Mahboobeh Kateb chairs the panel and its members are Vajiheh Sheikh Farshi, Sediqeh Barani, Haleh Firuzi, Hajar Heidari, Zahra Asakereh and Zeynab Aghaei.

Slated to kick off on Saturday, December 30, in both the men and women sections, the preliminary round will run through January 2, 2024.

In this stage, the recorded performances of the contenders will be played and evaluated by the panel of judges at an Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization building in Tehran.

Those who receive the minimum required points will be invited to take part in the main round, scheduled to begin in Tehran on February 15, concurrent with the birth anniversary of Imam Sajjad (AS).

According to organizers, more than 100 countries have introduced their representatives for participation in the prestigious competition.

They will vie for the top prizes in the categories of Quran recitation (for men) and Quran memorization and Tateel recitation (for men and women).

The International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from different countries.
