Iran Int’l Quran Contest’s Preliminary Round Slated for December 30

IQNA – The preliminary stage of Iran’s 40th International Holy Quran Competition will get underway this weekend.

Slated to kick off on Saturday, December 30, in both the men and women sections, this round will run through January 2, 2024.

In this stage, the recorded performances of the contenders will be played and evaluated by the panel of judges at an Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization building in Tehran.

Those who receive the minimum required points will be invited to take part in the main round, scheduled to begin in Tehran on February 15, concurrent with the birth anniversary of Imam Sajjad (AS).

According to organizers, more than 100 countries have introduced their representatives for participation in the prestigious competition. 

They will vie for the top prizes in the categories of Quran recitation (for men) and Quran memorization and Tateel recitation (for men and women).

Iran’s representatives in the men section are Hadi Esfidani (recitation), Omid Reza Rahimi (memorization of the entire Quran), and Mohammad Poursina (Tarteel recitation).

In the women section, Roya Fazaeli (memorization of the entire Quran) and Adeleh Sheikhi (Tarteel recitation) will compete for Iran.

The International Holy Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from different countries.
