IQNA – There are many Mustahab (recommended) acts and supplications mentioned in Hadiths for the holy month of Ramadan.

Blessed month of Ramadan

The most important act in this month is fasting. It has been said that it was Prophet Noah (AS) who first fasted in Ramadan after leaving the Ark.

According to Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, maybe God has designated Ramadan for fasting because it is the month in which the Holy Quran, which is the greatest divine sign, has been revealed.

The Holy Prophet (PBUH) has emphasized reading the Quran in this month. Muslims have also been urged to stay awake at night and say prayers and read supplications in Ramadan, especially in the last ten nights.

Sadaqah (giving alms) is said to have greater reward in this month. According to Hadith, Tasbeeh (glorifying God) is much better in this month than in other months. Muslims are recommended to perform I’tikaf (religious retreat) during the last ten days of Ramadan.

Since the Night of Qadr is in this month, there is a lot of emphasis on saying prayers, reciting supplications and scholarly dialogue in the nights of Ramadan.
