IQNA – A senior member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts underlined the Quranic roots of the fight against arrogance.

Member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Abbas Kaabi

Arrogance is an impediment to progress, justice, freedom, independence, innovation and creativity, Ayatollah Abbas Kaabi said.

The root of all oppressions, injustices, crimes and corruptions on earth is violation of people’s rights by the arrogance, he stated.

That is why God has ordered people to fight arrogance in order to pave the way for the growth of humanity, he added.

A look at Quranic stories like that of Moses (AS) and pharaoh and the issue of fighting arrogance, one would recognize that God wants to see the growth of humanity and avoiding Taghut through fighting arrogance, he stated.

He made the remarks in an interview with IQNA as Iran marks the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance.

Referring to Verse 1 of Surah Al-MUmtahinah, “Believers, do not take My enemy and your enemy for your guides,” and Verse 113 of Surah Hud, “And do not incline to the wrongdoers lest you are touched by the Fire, for then you shall not be helped. You have no guardians other than Allah,” Ayatollah Kaabi stressed that the arrogant powers and the oppressors are the enemies of God and humanity.

He went on to say that today, the United States’ government and the Israeli regime are the enemies of humanity and the manifestations of arrogance.

That is why Imam Khomeini (RA) called the US the “great Satan”, he stated.

The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement and the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement are at the frontline of fighting the enemies of humanity today, he stressed.

Ayatollah Kaabi added that Jihad against the arrogant is a religious duty based on the teachings of the Holy Quran and culture and spirit of fighting arrogance should be preserved.

On November 4, 1979, less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution that toppled a US-backed monarchy, Iranian university students who called themselves “students following the line of (the late) Imam (Khomeini)’ seized the US embassy in Tehran, which had become a center of espionage and planning to overthrow the newly established Islamic system in Iran.

The students who seized the embassy later published documents proving that the compound was indeed engaged in plans and measures to overthrow the Islamic Republic.

Every year on the 13th day of the Iranian month of Aban (November 3 this year), the Iranian nation, especially students, hold rallies across the country to mark the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance.
