‘Politics of Religious Dissent in Asia’ Theme of Upcoming Indonesia Conference
‘The Politics of Religious Dissent in Contemporary Asia’ is the main theme of this year’s event, slated for December 5.
Subthemes include ‘the philosophy and theology of dissent’, ‘contemporary development of Islamic studies in Asia’, ‘religious moderation: texts and contexts’, ‘Religion and artificial intelligence’ and ‘Environmental politics and religion’.
The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) will cooperate with the university in organizing the conference.
The scholarly event seeks to shed light on the complex connections between religious beliefs, political contexts and social developments.
It investigates how religion-based differences could affect or be affected by socio-political and cultural realities in contemporary Asia.
It brings scholars in different disciplines together to discuss the multi-dimensional nature of religious differences in Asia and the interconnection of faith, culture and power.
