Mauritania Quran Contest Winners Honored

IQNA – A ceremony was held earlier this week to award the winners of Mauritania’s 11th national Quran competition.

Winners of Mauritania’s 11th national Quran competition were awarded at a ceremony attended by senior officials of the country.

 

A total of 63 Quran memorizers and reciters were honored for winning different categories of the contest.

Also honored at the function were members of the organizing committee and the experts and qaris taking part in Ramadan educational workshops.

Organized by the Mauritania Quran Radio, the ceremony was attended by the African country’s President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani and Minister of Culture, Handicraft and Relations El Houssein Ould Medou.

Medou said in an address that the contest was not organized for just giving prizes but it was an opportunity for renewing allegiance with the Book of God and implementing Quranic teachings and values in life.

In his speech, Medou also hailed the role of the Quran Radio in promoting the Islamic culture and supporting the country’s cultural identity.

A total of 1,300 Quran memorizers and reciters took part in Mauritania’s 11th national Quran contest.

A number of senior Quran experts from different parts of the country evaluated their performances and selected the top contenders.

The Islamic Republic of Mauritania is a country in the Maghreb region of western North Africa.
