IQNA – In a virtual seminar titled "Divine Teaching", renowned Quranic scholar and commentator Mohammad Ali Ansari, author of the Mishkat Exegesis, explored the concept of divine education.

The event, held on December 9 in Mashhad, focused on the multifaceted ways God imparts knowledge to humanity.

“Divine teaching manifests in both direct and indirect forms,” Ansari explained, referencing Quranic verses to elucidate his point.

Citing Surah verse 31 of Surah Al-Baqarah, he remarked on the unique honor bestowed upon Hazrat Adam (AS) who received direct instruction from God: “And He taught Adam the Names, all of them; then presented them to the angels and said, ‘Tell me the names of these, if you are truthful.’”

Ansari emphasized that this privilege is not exclusive to Adam (AS); other individuals may also benefit from direct divine knowledge, granted through piety, as stated in verse 282 of Surah Al-Baqarah: “Be wary of Allah and Allah will teach you, and Allah has knowledge of all things.”

The scholar elaborated on the indirect means of divine education, where prophets serve as intermediaries to convey God’s teachings.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received revelations directly from God, which he then shared with humanity, he said, underscoring the layered transmission of knowledge.

Ansari also rejected the notion that the Quran's teachings are solely aimed at the afterlife. “This sacred book provides guidance for building a better world in this life while preparing for the hereafter. It shows us how to achieve well-being on Earth and eternal success beyond,” he explained.

Addressing human potential, Ansari highlighted that individuals are not born as the ideal "caliphs of God." Instead, they achieve this status through proper education, adherence to divine teachings, and personal development. "Faith, reverence for God, and a commitment to the ethical principles of revelation transform individuals into the embodiment of human dignity and honor," he stated.
