IQNA – A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by officials from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on cooperation in the field of Quran publication and translation.

The Saudi Ministry of Religious Affairs announced the agreement on X, stating, “The Ministry of Islamic Affairs signs a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistani Ministry of Religious Affairs.”

The signing ceremony took place in Jeddah, attended by Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh. According to Saudi state media, the agreement also includes cooperation in advocacy, preacher training, and highlighting the virtues of Islam and its message of moderation.

The MoU covers publishing and translating the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, organizing mosques, training preachers and imams, and sharing expertise in mosque construction and maintenance. It also focuses on reviving Islamic heritage, publishing Islamic literature, and preserving historical manuscripts.

In a related development, Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs recently signed an agreement with Saudi Airlines to support Hajj operations, ensuring travel arrangements for 35,000 Pakistani pilgrims.
