The Tijan an Nur International Quran Competition was held in Doha last week, Awab said.

“I represented Yemen in this contest. The first stage of this competition involved submitting audio recordings from Yemen to the judging committee in Qatar. I competed against my peers in Yemen and won, earning the title of representative for Yemen at this event.”

According to Awab the panel of judges invited him to attend the final stage of the competition in Doha, which featured widespread participation from children in Arab and Islamic countries.

The 13-year-old described the Qatar competition as challenging and complex, saying “I was able to achieve first place and elevate my country’s name among other nations around the world.”

His father says his son had been very eager to learn since childhood and had a good voice. “When he was eight years old, he attended Quran memorization sessions at the Hail Saeed Charity Association in the city of Taiz, Yemen.
