Winners Announced at 8th Port Said International Quran Competition

IQNA – The winners of the 8th Port Said International Quran were announced on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the competition’s closing ceremony held at the Port Said Cultural Center.

 

The event, which brought together 40 contestants from 33 countries, is recognized as one of Egypt’s prominent Quran competitions. 

The ceremony opened with a Quran recitation by Sheikh Mohammed Al-Taruti. It also featured performances by winners in the Ibtihal category, Egyptian media outlets reported.

"This event has brought a deeply spiritual atmosphere to Port Said, and we are honored to welcome our guests from around the world," said Port Said Governor Mohab Habashi while addressing the closing ceremony.

The competition was divided into three main categories: Quran memorization with full recitation, Quran recitation with melodious voice, and Ibtihal.

In the Quran memorization category, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Saber Ali from Libya won the top rank. Egypt’s Omar Mohammed Hussein Abdulwahid and Yemen’s Habib Abdulrahman Ahmed finished next.

The host country’s Khaled Atiya Abdelkhaleq Sediq won the top prize in the Quran recitation category. Sayyed Abdulrashid Kazemi from Afghanistan and Abdulmoghith Lazaar from Morocco stood next.

"The eighth edition of the competition was organized to the highest standards and achieved great success," said Adel Moselhi, the competition’s chairman, adding that the ninth edition will take place next year.

This year's edition was dedicated to the memory of Sheikh Mohammed Siddiq Al-Minshawi, a legendary qari, in honor of his contributions to the art of Quran recitation.
