Karbala Holy Shrine Ready for Mid-Shaaban Pilgrimage

IQNA – The holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala, Iraq, is ready to host a large number of pilgrims on the Eid of Mid-Shaaban.

The Electronic Monitoring and Control Department at the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine has announced its readiness to ensure a safe and organized Mid-Shaaban pilgrimage this year.

Hundreds of cameras have been deployed to ensure the security of the pilgrims and to provide security coverage for large areas in the Karbala province.

Head of the department Nasir al-Taei said it has intensified its security and organizational preparations for this year’s pilgrimage.

The cameras installed in the Aqila Zainab (SA) courtyard for covering the main celebration site near the Maqam of Imam Mahdi (AS) are modern and possess high-quality security capabilities, he stated.

Deputy secretary general of the Astan Mohammad Hassan Bahrululum said the Astan has completed the final steps of its security and service plan for the commemoration of the Mid-Shaaban Eid.

It includes comprehensive planning for security, services, health, and transportation for pilgrims, he said.

He added that all police personnel are ready to provide services and are actively working to protect and assist the pilgrims.

The departments responsible for health and medical services, along with medical units, are fully prepared and have ambulances available, he noted.

Bahralolum went on to say that the Astan’s guesthouse will provide free meals to the pilgrims, and the Astan’s vehicles will also participate in transporting the pilgrims.

The Mid-Shaaban Eid, marking the birth anniversary of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent), falls on the 15th day of the lunar Hijri month of Shaaban (Friday, February 14, this year).

Shia Muslims all over the world celebrate the auspicious occasion.

A large number of pilgrims visit Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine on the days leading to the 15th of Shaaban.
