Addressing a large gathering of students of Tanzania’s seminary and school students, Mohsen Maarefi said while all of the Infallible Imams (AS) have been referred to as Baqiyatallah in some religious texts like the Jamiah Kabirah Supplication, it is also a special title of the 12th Imam (AS).
The gathering was organized by the branch of Al-Mustafa International University in Tanzania on Sunday and attended by more than 1,500 students.
Maarefi referred to Verse 86 of Surah Hud of the Holy Quran, in which there is the word Baqiyatallah, and said this verse and those before and after it are about Prophet Shuaib (AS) who was appointed as the messenger of God in a society full of social and economic corruptions.
In Verse 84, Shuaib (AS) tells his people: “My nation, worship Allah; you have no god except He. Do not reduce the measure nor the scale. I see you are prosperous, and fear the punishment of an encompassing day for you.” Maarefi noted.
He said that in the next verse, the Divine messenger tells people to do good and not to corrupt the land with mischief.
Then, he noted, Prophet Shuaib (AS) said to his people that after observing these principles, what God leaves for you (Baqiyatallah) is the best thing.
The Iranian cultural envoy noted that the existence of Baqiyatallah is a treasure that God has preserved for humanity and the reformation of society.

“However, this does not imply that ‘awaiting’ is a passive concept where one must simply wait for him to arrive and reform society. Rather, based on these verses, awaiting is an active principle that is realized by respecting the rights of all people in every aspect.”
Maarefi also said that the greatest benefit of the emergence of the Savior is the reform of society and the resolution of its disorders.
