The opening ceremony brought together community members, scholars, and local officials to celebrate the occasion, The Bolton News reported on Sunday.
Originally housed in a former factory building, the mosque, located on Granville Street, has undergone a complete reconstruction.
“It’s a total new rebuild, it had previously been an old factory building, but now it’s totally new,” said Mosque President Haroon Rashid.
“It’s been sponsored by the local community here, and we’ve managed to do it at half the budget. It’s now one of the biggest mosques in the North West and one of the most beautiful as well.”

The project, which began in 2014, aimed to replace the previous single-story structure with a three-story facility designed to accommodate religious and educational activities.
The new mosque features a purpose-built architectural design, dedicated prayer areas, an IT suite, a library, classrooms, and two ablution areas.
Rashid emphasized the role of the community in bringing the project to fruition, noting that many young residents had witnessed the transformation over the years. “We’ve all got together, it’s been a real community project, and it’s involved all sections of the community as well,” he said.
The mosque has also been engaging with local schools and fostering connections within the broader community.
