IQNA – A Kuwaiti charity organization plans to hold the second edition of the ‘al-Hashimi’ nationwide Quranic Sciences competition in the Arab country.

It is a specialized scientific contest aimed at encouraging participants to learn about Quranic sciences.

Ahmed al-Murshid, the vice president of the Kuwait’s Huffaz (memorizers) Charity Association, said that the association is holding the second edition of the contest following the success of the first edition last year.

Last year, it saw the participation of 1,540 individuals, with 12 participants securing the top three positions across four categories, he noted.

Al-Murshid added that the competition is a specialized Quranic scientific contest in fields such as Nasikh and Mansukh (abrogation and abrogated verses), reasons for revelation, and the distinction between Makki and Madani verses, subjects that have received less attention in various programs and competitions.

These sciences are essential for understanding the Book of God, and all Quran memorizers and reciters need to learn them, he said, adding that in light of this, the association has organized such a competition.

He also mentioned the conditions for participating in this competition, saying participants must not be imams, muezzins, or holders of religious certificates, and they must carry their citizenship card or a copy of it during the competition.

Contenders can only compete in their designated age group, he stated.

A scientific committee consisting of scholars and experts in Quranic sciences, supervised by Sheikh Mahmoud al-Rifai, will oversee this competition, according to al-Murshid.

He went on to say that a link to the scientific materials has been provided to the participants so they can review it and respond to the competition questions online according to their age group.

He called on all Kuwaiti citizens to refer to the link and register their names for the competition.
