Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, marked National Tree Planting Day on Wednesday, March 5, by planting three saplings, emphasizing the environmental and economic benefits of afforestation.
Following the ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei described tree planting as a “profitable investment, forward-thinking action, and a means of wealth generation.” He urged the public to take part in afforestation efforts, calling it a “righteous and benevolent act” that contributes to a greener and more pleasant living environment.

The Leader noted that his annual participation in tree planting serves as a symbolic reminder that afforestation is not limited to the young and should be embraced by individuals of all ages.
He stressed that planting trees is a beneficial investment from multiple perspectives, adding, “Whether for fruit-bearing trees or valuable timber, tree planting is a completely profitable endeavor without any losses.”
Highlighting the role of forests and farmland in improving air quality, he underlined the environmental significance of trees and vegetation, stating, “Trees and plants not only purify the air but also enhance the beauty and vitality of both nature and the human spirit.”
Ayatollah Khamenei also called for continued commitment to the National Tree Planting Initiative, which was launched under the late President Ebrahim Raisi. He noted that the ongoing campaign to plant one billion trees over four years is feasible and urged government institutions to support citizens in achieving this goal.
Warning against deforestation and the conversion of agricultural land for other purposes, he stated, “Except in cases of technical necessity, cutting trees is a harmful and risky action. Measures must be taken to prevent forest destruction and the misuse of farmland.”
