Burak Ozturk, a 26-year-old cyclist, began his trip from Stuttgart, Germany, and is sharing updates about his journey on social media, according to Saudi news website Sabq.
Although he has not set an exact arrival date in Mecca, he remains confident that he will reach the holy city before the pilgrimage begins.
His 6,000-kilometer route will take him through multiple countries, including Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Greece, Türkiye, Syria, and Jordan, before reaching Saudi Arabia.
Watch:
Ozturk initially planned to undertake this journey two years ago, but family circumstances forced him to postpone it. This year, he was able to complete all necessary preparations, including legal formalities, hoping for a smooth trip to Mecca.
Hajj is a religious duty for Muslims who are physically and financially capable of undertaking it at least once in their lifetime.
Last month, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah opened registration for Saudi citizens and Muslim residents wishing to perform the pilgrimage this year.
