IQNA – The Astan Quds Razavi, which oversees the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, has planned a series of multilingual programs for international pilgrims during birthday anniversary of the eighth Shia Imam.

Multilingual Programs Planned at Imam Reza Shrine During Karamat Week

Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mohammad Zolfaghari, Director of Non-Iranian Pilgrims Affairs at the shrine, said the celebrations aim to introduce pilgrims from around the world to the spiritual and cultural legacy of Imam Reza (AS).

Karamat Week is an opportunity for pilgrims from all over the world to connect with the pure teachings of Imam Reza (AS) and benefit from the spiritual blessings of these days,” he said.

Karamat Week is observed from the 1st to 11th of Dhu al-Qa'dah in the Islamic lunar calendar, marking the birth anniversaries of Hazrat Masoumeh (SA) and her brother, Imam Reza (AS). The word “karamat” means generosity or dignity, reflecting the virtues associated with the Imam and his sister. The week is celebrated through a range of cultural and religious programs across Iran.

This year, according to Zolfaghari, key activities for non-Iranian visitors include spiritual guidance sessions in multiple languages, religious poetry gatherings, cultural seminars, and educational contests.

Special events for speakers of Arabic, Urdu, Azerbaijani, and English include Quranic circles, storytelling for children, and artistic performances.

In a gesture of interfaith harmony, flowers will also be presented to non-Muslim tourists.

“These programs reflect unity in diversity and demonstrate the universal compassion of the eighth Imam,” Zolfaghari emphasized.

The events are being held at the shrine of Imam Reza (AS), one of the holiest sites in Shia Islam, located in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad.
