In a statement released Saturday, the ministry said rescue teams remain unable to reach several victims still trapped under rubble or lying in the streets due to ongoing Israeli aggression.

According to the ministry, the total number of casualties since the start of Israel’s genocidal war on October 7, 2023, now stands at 51,201 killed and 116,869 injured.

Since the resumption of large-scale war on March 18 — following a six-week ceasefire — 1,827 Palestinians have been killed and 4,828 wounded.

Medical sources also reported that at least 19 more people were killed Sunday morning in fresh airstrikes. Among the casualties were five individuals in the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City and two in the al-Manara area of Khan Younis.

The Israeli military has intensified both air and ground attacks since the breakdown of the ceasefire with Hamas in mid-March. In a televised address Saturday, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the war would continue until “Hamas is defeated,” stating: “Military pressure is the only way to force an exchange of captives.”

The Israeli aggression began after Hamas launched a coordinated operation on October 7, 2023, taking 251 hostages, of whom 58 remain in Gaza — including the bodies of at least 34 who, according to Israeli authorities, have been confirmed dead.

Despite nearly 18 months of war and significant civilian casualties, Israeli forces have yet to achieve their primary objectives of dismantling Hamas and securing the full release of hostages.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant on November 21, 2024, over war crimes and crimes against humanity.
