IQNA – The Grand Mufti of al-Quds and the Palestinian Territories called for the collection of unauthorized copies of Quran.

Grand Mufti of al-Quds and Palestine Sheikh Mohammed Hussein

Sheikh Muhammad Hussein said in a statement that the edition found in several locations contains serious printing errors.

He emphasized that these copies must be recalled immediately.

With the rapid expansion of modern printing and the abundance of the Quran copies in the market, caution in purchasing copies of the Quran has become necessary, he stressed.

Every word in the Book of God has its own sanctity, and any mistake in the order of the words or in printing is not only a defect, but a serious danger to the text of the Quran and threatens the correct memorization and recitation of the Quran by Muslims around the world, he stated.

According to the senior cleric, in this unauthorized edition, pages 412 (Surah Luqman) to 443 (Surah Ya-Sin) have been removed, and the order and sequence of the Surahs have not been maintained.

The mentioned edition was printed by a printing house in Cairo, which requires a thorough examination of all copies imported and distributed in the Palestinian territories, he added.

Sheikh Muhammad Hussein called on bookstore owners, printing houses, and citizens to hand over any suspicious copies to the Palestinian Dar al-Ifta for inspection and appropriate action.

The Mufti of al-Quds emphasized that preserving the dignity of the Holy Quran is a collective responsibility, entrusted to religious authorities, publishing institutions, and every member of society.

He urged an end to relying solely on rapid printing technologies without careful human verification, especially given the importance and sensitivity of the Book of God.

He asked the public to immediately stop using any suspicious copies and to send invalid copies to the nearest competent authority.

He also urged always verifying the source and place of printing of the Quran before purchasing or distributing it, and to supervise their children and Quran students to ensure they use authentic copies for memorization and study.
