Iraq’s Border Crossings Ready to Facilitate Return of Arbaeen Pilgrims
Omar Adnan Al-Waeli said this while monitoring the process of returning Arbaeen pilgrims through the Zarbatiyah border crossing.
He emphasized that the Border Crossings Organization is working on the basis of a comprehensive plan and in full coordination with security institutions and service providers to facilitate the departure of pilgrims and provide them with the best services in order to showcase the civilized face of Iraq, its good organization and hospitality on this great religious occasion.
He added that the organization's employees are working around the clock to expedite the implementation of exit procedures, accept a large number of pilgrims and reduce waiting times, and ensure smooth passage of pilgrims.
Al-Waeli went on to say that all border crossings will continue to operate in full readiness until the successful completion of the pilgrims' return process.
Nearly five million foreign pilgrims have traveled to Iraq in recent weeks to take part in the Arbaeen procession.
The Arbaeen mourning ceremony, which falls on August 4 this year, is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
It marks the 40th day after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Imam Hussein (AS).
