Int’l Quran Contest for Al-Azhar Students: Winners Awarded

IQNA – The winners of an international Quran memorization contest for foreign students of Al-Azhar were honored in a ceremony in Egypt on the weekend.

The International Organization of Al-Azhar Graduates organized the ceremony in collaboration with the Abu Al-Ainain Charity Foundation.

More than a thousand male and female Al-Azhar students from various countries studying at this Islamic institution participated in the competition.

Abbas Shoman, head of the administrative council of the organization, Somaya Abu Al-Ainain, vice president of the foundation, Nahla Saeedi, advisor to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar on foreign student affairs, and several other officials from the World Organization of Al-Azhar Graduates attended the ceremony.

In his speech at the event, Shoman said the Holy Quran is a light that the youth must benefit from in order to find guidance and success in a world full of turmoil and chaos.

He further expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the foundation in supporting Quran memorizers and encouraging them to memorize, recite, and understand the Divine Word.

He added that Al-Azhar cooperates with many charitable organizations, including the Abu Al-Ainain Charity Foundation, and has a regular presence in charitable activities and Quranic prorgams.

The international Quran memorization competition for foreign students of Al-Azhar was held in the categories of memorizing the entire Quran, memorizing half of the Quran and the most beautiful voices.

At the end of the competition, 35 people were recognized as the top winners and received their prizes.
