Speaking at the sidelines of the ceremony on Monday, Seyed Milad Taghavi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation, said the donation represents “the devotion of the volleyball family to Imam Reza (AS),” adding that it also symbolizes the team's spiritual reliance on the Imam during their pursuit of future victories.

Taghavi stated: “Today, on behalf of the country’s volleyball community, we had the honor of visiting the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS). We didn’t want to come empty-handed, so we brought one of our most valuable achievements—the U21 World Championship trophy—to donate it to the shrine’s museum.”

“We may not be here in the future, but whoever sees this trophy in the museum will undoubtedly remember the national team and the volleyball family of Iran. This devotion to Imam Reza (AS) is what supports us during the challenging days of Asian and world competitions.”

In addition to the U21 trophy, the federation also presented a gold medal from the World University Games. “It is a great honor that the most prestigious medals are now placed in the most sacred location in Iran,” Taghavi said.

The donation was praised by Reza Aminzadeh, CEO of the Sports and Physical Education Institute of the Karamat Razavi Foundation, who called it a meaningful and cultural act. “This is an identity-building move and a model for the country’s sports community,” he said.

“When a national achievement—earned through great effort—is dedicated to Imam Reza (AS), it takes on deeper meaning. It can serve as an inspiring example for other sports disciplines,” he said.

Taghavi said that turning to the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) has always been a source of strength for Iranian athletes. “We hope that the blessings and prayers of Imam Reza (peace be upon him) will accompany our national players in international competitions.”
