The incident took place at the Wirral Deen Centre and Mosque on Borough Road. According to Merseyside Police, the report was received around 9:45 p.m. on July 26, after a loud noise was heard in the area.
Officers arrived at the scene and have since maintained a visible presence while conducting inquiries, Liverpool Echo reported on Sunday.
Chief Inspector Ben Wayment confirmed that CCTV footage from the vicinity is being reviewed as part of efforts to determine the circumstances of the damage.

He said police are currently “keeping an open mind” and urged anyone who witnessed suspicious behavior or may have relevant dashcam footage to come forward. “An investigation has commenced to establish how the damage was caused, and this includes carrying out CCTV enquiries in the area.”
As of Sunday morning, the mosque remained cordoned off, and multiple police vehicles were stationed nearby. No arrests have been made, and the nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed as intentional or accidental.
Authorities are asking the public to assist in the investigation by contacting Merseyside Police with any information that could be useful.
