Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalai, the representative of Grand Ayatollah Seyed Ali al-Sistani in Karbala, strongly condemned the Israeli atrocities in Gaza, framing the ongoing war as a broader moral battle between oppression and justice.
“This genocidal war against Gaza is a direct threat to the values and the future of our generations,” al-Karbalai said. “To think this conflict does not concern us is a grave mistake.”
He dismissed the notion that the war is geographically or politically limited, arguing instead that it represents a fundamental clash between two worldviews. “Some assume the conflict is confined to Gaza or the West Bank. But in reality, this war spans much wider — it’s a struggle between a humane and divine approach that defends values, rights, and the oppressed, and an approach rooted in arrogance, injustice, and savagery.”

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime has waged a relentless war on Gaza, killing nearly 61,000 Palestinians — the majority women and children — without achieving its declared objectives. The Israeli regime has also blocked essential aid, prompting rights organizations to denounce the blockade as a crime against humanity.
More than 1,330 Palestinians seeking food aid have been killed since May alone, and over 8,810 others wounded — mostly around the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Fund centers.

Despite global condemnation and repeated calls by the United Nations, aid agencies, and world leaders, Israel has refused to allow sufficient humanitarian assistance into the besieged territory.
