IQNA – The secretary general of Lebanon's resistance movement warned that the Zionist regime is pursuing an expansionist policy, stressing that unity among all Muslim nations is necessary to confront Israel’s aggressive and expansionist agenda.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem

Sheikh Naim Qassem made the remark on Friday during a ceremony marking the first Martyrdom anniversary of the senior Hezbollah commander, Ibrahim Aqeel and his comrades, assassinated by Israel in Beirut.

He warned that the Israeli regime's prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu was pursuing an expansionist vision for a Greater Israel, which aims to redraw the map of the West Asia region.

“We must all confront this danger together and the only path to remove this threat is unity against the common enemy,” Sheikh Qassem emphasized.

Israel is an American and Western colonial expansionist entity that seeks to dominate the region and deprive it of its choices, he said. “The usurping Zionist presence is a tool for America, a scarecrow for the region, and an expansionist entity that deprives the region of its independence and sovereignty.”

Referring to the history of the regime's establishment, he said, “The Israeli entity, planted in our region since the beginning of the 20th century, dug deeply with colonial and arrogant support that began with Britain and then moved to America.”

Israel has reached the peak of criminality, brutality, and disregard for any humanitarian, legal, international, or human rights norms — with full backing from the US administration, the Hezbollah chief said.

Hezbollah’s secretary general pointed to recent Israeli strikes, including one on Qatar earlier in September, as exposing the regime’s plot and sending a clear message to regional nations.

“After the strike on Doha, the targeting now reaches every geographic and political barrier standing before the ‘Greater Israel’ project,” he said, noting that the entire region stands “at a dangerous and exceptional crossroads.”

The Israeli regime has a vicious plan of targeting most of the regional countries, including Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Iran, the Hezbollah chief said.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Qassem urged Saudi Arabia to open a “new page” with the resistance, based on three principles: dialogue to resolve disputes and address concerns, recognition that Israel – and not the resistance – is the enemy, and “freezing of past disagreements”.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the secretary general warned that pressuring the resistance will only benefit Israel, and its elimination would leave regional nations vulnerable.

He stressed that Hezbollah's weapons are aimed solely at Israel, not any other nation. Sheikh Qassem reaffirmed that the Lebanese resistance movement will not lay down arms.

Despite a ceasefire with Lebanon after 14 months of war, Israel maintains its occupation of five important locations in southern Lebanon, including Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all of which are located near the border.

Despite almost daily Israeli airstrikes and ongoing breaches of Lebanese airspace and sovereignty, Hezbollah continues to be the sole credible military entity capable of challenging the occupation and thwarting additional Israeli intrusions.

A political aide to Sheikh Qassem also categorically rejected plans for the disarmament of the resistance group, saying that the scheme places the Arab nation at the mercy of the United States and Israel.

Hussein al-Khalil said in an interview with the Beirut-based al-Nour radio station that the firm stance of Hezbollah and its allies prevented authorities from implementing the foreign-imposed diktats regarding the disarmament of the resistance movement.
