IQNA – A senior Quranic official said that the “Verses to Live By” campaign has grown beyond a cultural program to become a national movement across Iran.

Nationwide Quranic Plan ‘Verses to Live By’ Set to Reach Millions

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Qomi, head of the Islamic Development Organization and chairman of the Council for the Development of Quranic Culture, made the remarks at a coordination meeting on Tuesday, October 21, in Tehran.

The gathering brought together representatives of government bodies and Quranic institutions to discuss collaboration on the “Verses to Live By” campaign.

Qomi thanked all organizations involved in implementing the initiative, noting that the central issue “is not merely a project but the Holy Quran itself.”

He said: “Through this campaign, we have succeeded in making the Quran a serious national demand voiced both by the Leader of the Revolution and the Quranic community.”

He emphasized that the campaign’s true impact depends on commitment at every level. “Real effectiveness comes when cultural managers and officials themselves act upon what they promote,” he said.

Qomi explained that the third phase of the campaign will begin soon, with activities gradually expanding toward their peak during the holy month of Ramadan. “Based on experience from previous rounds and by starting in the month of Rajab, we expect to achieve remarkable success in Ramadan,” he said.

“Season of Devotion” in Focus

Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Taghizadeh, head of Dar al-Quran al-Karim, said the upcoming phase—titled “Season of Devotion”—will unfold during the months of Rajab, Sha‘ban, and Ramadan.

“Nearly two years of experience show that we can reach 50 million people as the target audience,” he said. “Over the next three years, we aim to influence the mindset of about 30 million individuals through Quranic verses.”

Taghizadeh added, “The focus of Verses to Live By is on fostering familiarity, understanding, and memorization of 200 selected verses by 30 million participants. Among them, at least one million can become active Quranic advocates.”

He said the campaign is centered on local Quranic gatherings and will require “at least one thousand intermediary and field-level circles” to sustain community engagement. Alongside field activities, he noted, research work is also underway.

Taghizadeh reported that 12 million people have already taken part in the campaign’s tests and competitions. “We have built the necessary infrastructure to embed this plan in daily life,” he said.

The first major implementation event will coincide with the Itikaf ceremonies during the Ayyam al-Bayd (middle days of Rajab). “We plan to ask worshippers observing Itikaf to memorize five of the thirty verses during the three nights they stay in mosques,” he explained. “Five Quranic sessions will be held daily at prayer times to help achieve this goal.”

He said the second highlight will come on the anniversary of the Prophet’s Mission (Mab‘ath), followed by activities on the 15th of Sha‘ban, focusing on verses related to the awaited savior.

“Verses to Live By” aims to strengthen public engagement with the Quran through memorization, reflection, and community practice. Previous editions have reached millions of Iranians through nationwide Quranic circles, school programs, and televised sessions during the fasting month of Ramadan.
