
A total of 1,030 boys and girls, 600 of whom were Al-Azhar students were honored at the event.
Held in the village of Ghamza Al-Kubra, it was attended by senior scholars and Al-Azhar officials.
The ceremony was part of a grand annual celebration honoring the Quran memorizers with the efforts of the “Imam” Islamic Center and under the supervision of Al-Azhar Chief Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb.
President of Al-Azhar University Salama Juma Dawood was among the participants. In a speech, he congratulated the Quran memorizers and their families and emphasized that Al-Azhar’s mission is to preserve the heritage of Islam and Muslims.
He added that the Quran memorizers are special servants of God, and the Holy Quran carries with it an attribute of God Almighty and one of the most beautiful names, which is Al-Karim.
Dawood emphasized, “What we are witnessing today is the true fruit of Al-Azhar’s policy based on memorizing the Quran and the pure Prophetic tradition.”
He added that the Islamic Ummah, as long as there are Quran memorizers in it, is always victorious and protected.

The ceremony ended with the awarding of 210 Umrah pilgrimages to the best male and female memorizers who have managed to learn the entire Quran by heart, as well as cash prizes to other memorizers.
