
A delegation from the Libyan unity government headed by Ibrahim al-Dabiba, the Libyan prime minister’s national security advisor, announced in a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun that it has handed over the investigation file on the disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr to Lebanese authorities.
Walid al-Lafi, Libya’s communications minister, said that the Libyan delegation, during a visit to Beirut, has handed over the complete investigation file conducted by Libyan authorities on the disappearance of Imam Musa Sadr to the Lebanese investigating judge.
He added that the Libyan delegation has expressed its readiness to fully cooperate in providing all information related to the case.
Al-Dabiba, in his meeting with Joseph Aoun, conveyed to him the message of the Libyan premier, which emphasized Tripoli’s desire to restore Lebanese-Libyan relations and cooperation between the two countries and resolve outstanding cases.
According to the Lebanese presidential statement, Joseph Aoun also stressed in this meeting the need to remove all legal and judicial obstacles to return Lebanese-Libyan relations to normal and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
He welcomed any action that could help the ongoing investigation into the case of the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr and his two companions.
Imam Musa Sadr and his two companions Mohammed Yaqoub and Abbas Badreddin were kidnapped in August 1978 during an official visit to the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

Sadr was scheduled to meet with officials from the government of the Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
The three were never seen or heard from again and their fate is still unknown even after the overthrow of the Gaddafi regime in 2011.
The Lebanese Shia community holds Gaddafi responsible for the kidnapping of Imam Musa Sadr and his two companions. However, the former Libyan regime denied the accusation, claiming that the three had left Tripoli for Italy.
