
The festival opened on Wednesday under the theme “Lantern.” It is organized by the Cultural Affairs Department of the Sharjah Department of Culture and held at the Sharjah Art Museum.
The event takes place under the supervision of Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah.
Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qasir, director of the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival, said the 2025 edition will feature 114 events and 473 works by 170 artists from 24 countries.
He said the festival reflects the ruler’s vision of “turning art into a cultural message that conveys the essence of humanity” and serves as a bridge of cultural exchange among nations.

He said 52 exhibitions will be hosted across several venues, including the Sharjah Art Museum, the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre, and the UAE Society for Arabic Calligraphy and Islamic Ornamentation, among others.
The festival program includes exhibitions, workshops and seminars organized in cooperation with 26 Sharjah institutions.
The Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival is an international event dedicated to Islamic arts. Established in 1998, it showcases the cultural and aesthetic dimensions of Islamic artistic expression and presents a wide range of artistic forms each year.
The event will run through January 31, 2026.
