
It said in a statement that a group of union officials are members of this committee that will ensure compliance with the approved laws in the field of professional activity, and will develop mechanisms under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf to follow up on the status of violators, El-Balad reported.
The statement noted that Sheikh Muhammad Hashad, the union’s president, chairs this committee, and Sheikh Mahmoud al-Khisht, vice president of the Union, Abdul Fattah Tarouti, secretary general of the Union, Sheikh Muhammad Abdulmojoud Khalifa, Ahmed Abu Fayouz, Sheikh Taha Muhammad Numani (technical advisor of the union), and Sheikh Muhammad Salem Amer are among the committee’s members.
The committee will continue to work under the supervision of Awqaf Minister Osama al-Azhari until the amendment to the Union Law is completed in a way that specifies the mechanism for the activities of the reciters and controls any violations.
The new committee was formed with the aim of controlling the offending reciters, monitoring the recitation process and supervising the performance of qaris in mosques and Quranic centers, with an emphasis on observing the Sharia and technical standards to ensure proper recitation and high-quality performance and protecting the rights of the audience against any violations that may affect the accuracy of the recitation.
The committee will play its role in supervising novice and professional reciters and will provide the necessary recommendations to the union and the Awqaf Ministry to develop educational and supervisory mechanisms to improve the process of recitation performance throughout the country.

It is worth noting that errors have recently been observed in the Quran recitations of a number of Egyptian qaris, which has led to criticism in the country.
Also, a video of a recitation by prominent qari Sheikh Ahmed Ahmed Nuaina was published in which two mistakes were observed in the recitation, and this recitation was sent to the union.
