Egyptian qari Abdul Fattah Tarouti

Tarouti, who is the deputy Sheikh al-Qurra (Chief Reciter) and secretary-general of the Egyptian Reciters’ Union, issued a statement regarding the content published on the page of the union and the comments on the errors made in a recent Quran recitation by Nuaina.

He said that after this content was published on the official page of the union by its president Sheikh Muhammad Saleh Hashad, “I contacted him and he explained that this recitation was broadcast live from Al-Marsi Abu al-Abbas Mosque in Alexandria on social networks and was sent to him through some users and he was asked to express his opinion and explanation about any inadvertent mistake or forgetfulness in the recitation of the verses.”

Tarouti added, “This (mistake in recitation) is something from which no one is infallible, because all the people of the Quran, young and old, are subject to it, but the Holy Quran is victorious and invincible.”

He continued, “The head of the union explained that he had fulfilled his duty in this regard, because one of the main goals of the union is to preserve the Book of God from errors while also safeguarding the status and dignity of the reciter; with no one being exempt from this.”

Tarouti emphasized that he has great respect for the respected reciter Dr. Ahmed Nuaina- both personally and as the Sheikh al-Qurra of Egypt. “He is a very valuable and high-ranking figure that no one can insult or harm.”

Tarouti went on to say that what has happened has no effect on the roots of love and respect that connect and bind all the people of the Quran to each other.

“These are relationships that have brought our hearts together in love for the Book of God and in carrying out the noble mission of the Quran with a pure spirit, sincerity of intention and tolerance.”

He emphasized that love and affection between the people of the Quran are the foundation and spirit of Islam.

Tarouti concluded by calling on everyone to avoid causing division among the people of the Quran, and stated that “the goal of all of us is to serve the Quran and the people of the Quran.”
