The ceremony for the unveiling of the grand work, which is considered the largest encyclopedia in the history of Quranic studies, was held Wednesday, February 5, in the courtyard of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
A number of religious, seminary and academic figures, including the custodian of the holy shrine, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalayi, attended the ceremony.
The encyclopedia consists of 60 volumes and includes more than 35,000 Quranic texts that interpret the Holy Quran and its sciences based on the heritage of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) in elucidating the meanings of the Word of God.
Sayed Murtada Jamaleddin, head of the executive committee of the encyclopedia, said it is the result of 10 years of research, gathering, and documentation with the participation of specialized staff who devoted their utmost efforts to produce this monumental work.
He said that in addition to Islamic seminary scholars, experts from the University of Karbala and University of Babylon contributed to the compilation of the encyclopedia, which was completed with support from Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalayi.
