Khatm Quran refers to reading the Holy Quran from the beginning to the end.
The program was organized by the Salalah Quran Center, affiliated with the Oman Quran Association, under the supervision of Ahmed bin Mohsen Al-Ghassani, Mayor of Dhofar, and in line with the center’s annual project for 2025.
It witnessed widespread participation from students, who recited what they had memorized from the Book of God in full or in parts.
There were 110 male and female Quran memorizers at the event, and these students were divided into several groups, including memorizing the entire Quran (6 students), 20 chapters (6 students), 15 chapters (5 students), 10 chapters (12 students), 5 chapters (41 students), and 2 chapters (40 students).
Raed bin Awad Balkhair, director of the Salalah Quranic Center, said the program was attended by various segments of Omani society, including men and women aged 15 and above, who were skilled in reciting the Quran and had the necessary speed.
He added that the importance of this event lies in strengthening awareness of the status of the Holy Quran and the need to pay attention to the word of revelation through memorization, recitation and contemplation of the verses.
Reviewing and consolidating the memorized Quran verses among the memorizers, discovering emerging Quranic talents among the male and female memorizers, preparing and encouraging them to participate in domestic and international Quranic competitions, as well as creating a spirit of enthusiasm, competition and self-confidence in the participants were among the various objectives of the Khatm Quran event, he stated.
