IQNA – The officials of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Quran competition in Qatar announced the inclusion of new section to the Quranic event.

The new section is for orphans and is held in cooperation with the Qatar Charity Foundation, QNA reported.

Named “Rofaqa (companions)”, it is for orphans who are under the supervision of the foundation in different countries.

Opening new spiritual and educational horizons to orphans and helping them enhance their Quran recitation, memorization and contemplation skills to boost their bond with the Book of God are among the goals of this new section.

According to Abdul Rahman Jabir, head of the organizing committee of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Quran competition, the new category is for boys only.

He said those set to take part in this section will first take a six-month educational course to enhance their skills in Quran recitation and memorization.

The final stage of the 30th edition of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Quran competition was held in the Qatari capital of Doha in November 2025.
